Distance

Do long distance relationships really work? It never even crossed my mind during my younger years to involve myself in one. Some say it is difficult and that they seldom work. And to some, they end up together happily ever after.

I have seen friends of mine who are far away from their loved ones. There are occurences that because of the distance, the love between them has faded away. Yet sometimes the distance brings some even closer than physically being there. A very close friend of mine had a 5 year long distance relationship... they got married more than a year ago... and now they are finally happily living together. My cousin had a 3 year long distance relationship... they too got married and now trying to have their first kid.

So what makes it all work? The most common answer i would get is communication... constant communication... once that is lost, the love that bounded them together from the very beginning gets lost.

I am actually in one. There is a big difference i guess between being with the person before having the distance and having the distance before being with the person. The latter applies to me. And so far i can say that distance is not too bad after all. It is amazing to have that feeling of closeness and love even when the other person is halfway around the world. Someone who you have not seen in person. Someone who can give you that smile through a picture. There are times when you long so much for that hug and the warm feeling of the hand. And yet, the mere thought of him puts a smile on your face. The closest you can be with that person is hearing the voice on the other end of the line, and it will feel like you have just been hugged.

Everyday is something to look forward to. Each day is brand new and no matter how that day would turn out, you still end up thanking HIM... it is another step closer to that day when you will be together... and today marks ONE MONTH closer to that... =)
