On my Own

New life… it has been more than a month since my last day in TIPI. In one week’s time from the moment i set foot in manila, I was able to get my own place, shop for stuff to decorate the unit, go to the opening of the largest mall in Asia and now… exactly one week later I am sitting in an air conditioned classroom for my very first subject in DLSU as a graduate student… oh and not to mention two pending job interviews within the week. So far, things have been going well.

The new environment is somewhat scary… new people… unfamiliar places. It will definitely take some time to adjust and familiarize myself with the surroundings and the weather.

It is known for a fact that graduate school is a life of hard work. It will be a long way… this is just the beginning. I gave up my highly stressful job in Baguio… I left the friends I have made through the years… I left my loved ones, my family and closest friends… all this to get my master’s degree. In the long run, even with all the stress it can offer, I know it will be beneficial for me.

I was only allowed to enroll 6 units this semester. Night classes twice a week, three hours each is not too bad. I do have a lot free time. Hopefully I find a job soon. Extra income would be good.

This is the first time I will be away from my family. I see it as a training ground… in preparation for the future, when I do have to leave them for career advancement. It is nice to try and live alone. Where all you have to attend to is you… your own time… your own pace… hopefully, all will turn out well.
