Milenyo

Today has been a very hectic day. Signal number 3 in Metro Manila, Milenyo has wrecked thousands of homes. The storm landed in the city at 12nn today until about 2:30. It was the first time I have ever seen rains and wind this strong. Flying materials of all sorts were everywhere. Billboards gone down… floods up to knee high… no cab available anywhere… tree branches in the middle of the street…. no power all throughout the city…. Scary sight really.

Now I am sitting at the condominium lobby charging my celphone. No electricity in the units. Bummer! Well at least the elevators are functioning. I live on the 16th floor and I simply cannot walk all the way up there or vice versa. My pad got wet and I am contemplating on how I will sleep tonight. My darn sofa bed got wet… my carpet is wet… the evening is not doing too good. I will most likely kill time here while my stuff dries out.

A cd of 92.3 Joey trying to soothe my mood, hopefully it shifts from bad to better. I watch people passing by me. Three other guys sit across me reading their books or magazines waiting for their phones to be fully charged. Two seem to be really serious… looking like law students reviewing for whatever exam they have the next day. The other looks like a Japan performer male version. Haha! I am so mean. He is reading a male magazine, not the gross kind, but he constantly flips his almost orange hair. Is he gay? Hmmm… he just stood up… he’s got man boobs…. I would think so. Haha!

This is what boredom can do to a person. Look at people around you and compare each one. I wonder what they are thinking of me. A twenty-something woman, sitting on the corner couch, typing away on her laptop… with earphones looking serious… not even smiling at anyone…. some would probably ask “I wonder if she is single?”… well to the cute ones passing by, I’d put a sign on my forehead saying “YES! 100% SINGLE” haha! But who knows, maybe they too are criticizing me…

And so Mr. man boobs suddenly strikes a conversation with me. He asked me what time the power would go on. If I remember right, I put an imaginary sign of my status and not “MERALCO”… hehe… oh he was just trying to be friendly. And I would never have guessed, for the life of me, his age! I thought he too was twenty-something. But I found out he was a freshman taking up business administration at St. Benilde. Haha! He’s only 17! Geez! He does look old for his age.

The security guard just approached me and warned me of how long I was charging. He said we are on generator power and that the charging might affect our power consumption! Either he doesn’t know basic science or he saw my invisible sign! Haha. How can a charger affect the generator??! What the $#@&! And so I explain that I was charging my phone, he thought I was charging my laptop… but anyhow, 65 watts?!!! I realized my laptop battery was running low, so switched to charge my notebook anyway! Haha!

And now a kid and her mother on the couch infront of me… people are coming and going and I am still here… well except Mr. man boob… I think I better pack up and head on up to my wet pad (that didn’t sound to good.. haha) before I start to rant about my next victim.
